CAER Plastic Surgery is able to offer a wide range of cosmetic procedures aimed at changing areas of the body. It is possible to combine procedures if necessary.; the best treatment plan can be worked out with you in consultation with your surgeon.

Abdominoplasty or “tummy tuck”

Abdominoplasty or “tummy tuck”

An abdominoplasty is an operation to tighten and flatten the stomach by removing excess fat and skin and tightening the abdominal muscles. This is ideal for someone who has lost a lot of weight (after dieting, or childbirth for example) and has considerable excess skin and small volume of fat that cannot be reduced by dieting and exercise.

Mini abdominoplasty

Mini abdominoplasty (or tummy tuck)

A mini abodominoplasty or mini tummy tuck removes excess fat and skin from the abdomen with a single scar just above the bikini line. It avoids the second scar around the belly button which is part of the abdominoplasty. This is most suitable where there is a localised area of stretched skin and overhang (perhaps resulting from pregnancy or caesarean), such as on an otherwise slim patient.

Umbilicoplasty or belly button surgery

Umbilicoplasty or belly button surgery

An umbilicoplasty is performed to change the shape of the belly button, where it has become stretched by extreme changes in weight, or by pregnancy. The umbilicoplasty can also be performed to turn an “outie” belly button into an “innie”.

Scar revision surgery

Scar revision surgery

scar revision

Scar revision is a surgical procedure which aims to improve the appearance or position of a scar. Examples are, replacing a raised scar with a finer, improved scar, or changing the direction or position of a scar, for example moving it into a skin crease or hairline. Contracture scars after burns can be released with transfer of flaps or grafts of healthy skin.

A labiaplasty is aimed at reducing the size or changing the shape of the labia, more usually performed on the inner labia (labia minora). This can be done for cosmetic reasons, but also where overly large inner labia cause pain and irritation.

The thighlift is usually performed following massive weight loss, where the stretched skin is not able to snap back into shape. The thighlift tightens and firms the contours of the thighs by removing this extra skin and some fat, sometimes with the aid of liposuction. Thighlift surgery is often performed as part of a planned series of operations following massive weightloss.

Arm reduction or armlift

Arm reduction or armlift or brachioplasty

The armlift offers a surgical solution to “bingo wings”, removing the excess fat and skin of the upper arms, and producing a tighter and smoother look. It is ideally suited to those who have lost weight and have excess skin on their upper arms as a result.

Body lift or body contouring

Body contouring after extensive weight loss or after bariatric surgery

body lift

Losing the extra weight is often only the first step for those who are massively overweight and trying to change their bodies. The stretched skin loses its elasticity and so the slimmer patient is left with folds of loose skin. In these cases, a programme of surgery can be planned to recontour the affected parts of the body. This can include a combination of: abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), brachioplasty (armlift), thighlift, mastopexy (breast lift), buttock lift

Male breast surgery

gynaecomastia or male breast reduction or moob reduction or manboob reduction

This increasingly popular procedure is used to reduce the appearance of breast tissue in men and make a more masculine chest contour. Excess breast tissue can result from certain medications or hormones, but often the cause for it is not found. Excess breast tissue can be removed surgically via a small incision at the edge of the nipple areola. Sometimes this is combined with liposuction. Some male breasts are fatty rather than being made of excess breast tissue (even in slim men, or, for example, fat that fails to shift after weight-loss) and in these cases can be treated using liposuction alone.

Liposuction, liposculpture

Liposuction or liposculpture

This highly popular surgical procedure removes pockets of stubborn fat from areas of the body by sucking it out via a small incision, through a cannula. Liposuction is often used on thighs, hips or tummy, but can be used to smooth contours in most areas of the body. Fat cells are permanently destroyed in the treated area, but maintaining stable weight is important following liposuction.
